Family Night - The Thanksgiving Tree

In the spirit of the holiday, we had our own mini-Thanksgiving last week. We made our own personal Giving Tree....a THANKS-giving tree. We cut a tree out of brown butcher paper and taped it on the wall.

The only place we had to hang it was in the hall, so all the pictures are angled :)

Artwork courtesy of the Mister. :)

Then we cut leaves out of red, yellow, and orange construction paper. Each of us chose 3 leaves, wrote one thing we are thankful for on each leaf, and then added them to the tree.

Some of the things on our leaves?

  • our wonderful family

  • my famle - by Jacob. read carefully....that's "family" not "female" :)

  • the things God gave us to survive and a house to stay in - Kloe

  • frends - Jacob again

  • books

  • food

  • pie :)

  • Sonic Ice Javas (any guesses whose that was?)

  • God's love

  • We had turkey hoagies for dinner (actually, that wasn't planned - it just sort of happened - but it worked out nicely!) and for dessert Kloe helped me make this yummy pie.

Sorry....this is a really bad picture, but the pie was oh-so-yummy!

It was a fun night full of thankfulness. A much easier version of Thanksgiving!

We will keep adding leaves to our Thanksgiving tree through the end of November. Then, this year for the first time, we are going to do a Jesse Tree for Christmas (although, we're not Catholic). We will start on December 1st, having a devotion and adding a paper ornament to our Jesse Tree each night until Christmas. I can't wait!
