Radical

Beginning Tuesday, September 7, I'm going to be joining Marla over at MarlaTaviano.com in an online read-along of the book Radical by David Platt. (Go here to read more about it.) I know it's going to be life changing for a lot of people, and I'm hoping one of them will be me. Have you guys read this book yet? Heard of it? I'm hearing of it everywhere, and I'm taking those repeated hearings-of-it as an indication that I'm supposed to be reading it.

Here's a blurb from the back cover:
WHAT IS JESUS WORTH TO YOU?

It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...

BUT WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO LIVES LIKE THAT? DO YOU?

In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart
how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus.

Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment --a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.
Hear it from Mr. Platt himself:

I would love for you to join me - in the read-along and on the journey.

You could come over and sit on my new furniture, and we could have coffee and read. :)

  1. Randomly remembered this post, and thought I'd share that Jonathan had a chance to interview David Platt today. :) He was the main speaker at a conference Jonathan is attending, and Jonathan was SUPER moved and inspired by him.
