Jacob's idea for Race Car Night won by a narrow margin.
Kloe and Jacob made their own race cars out of cardboard boxes. They cut holes in the bottoms of the boxes, decorated them inside and out, and attached ribbon like suspenders to hold their cars up.
Kloe attaching her steering wheel:
Check out the headlights, grill, and windshield wipers...
When the cars came off the assembly line, we went outside to have races! Notice the windshield on Kloe's car....she made hers a convertible. :)
It didn't take long for them to decide that running in the boxes was too hard, and that they should break out the scooters.
That actually didn't work as well as one might think (no hands to hold up the straps), so we went inside and had Hotwheel races!
Rules of the race:
1) every racer starts with 5 cars
2) cars are raced from the edge of the carpet, across the kitchen, to the edge of the counter
3) first car to hit the counter wins
4) the winner of each round takes all the other racers' cars from that round
5) whoever has the most cars at the end wins! (that would be Jacob, of course)
Can you tell who got out first? :)
It made me smile that Nascar races were actually on TV while we were having our Hotwheels race. :)
And we finished up the night by watching this movie:
Fun, simple, happy family time together!
